Due to Covid-19 we have moved our SGS Lecture Series to a live online format via Zoom. Members are encouraged to join us from the comfort and safety of their homes for a stimulating and pertinent gynecological lecture.

Please join us for our bi-monthly dinner lecture series brought to you by the Seattle GYN Society. This is a wonderful time to sit down with colleagues over a delicious dinner and socialize. Following the meal there is a 60 minute educational presentation by a medical expert on important gynecological issues, followed by a lively Question & Answer session. To join us, please RSVP below, as space is limited. The dinner lecture series is complimentary to all current, paid SGS members.

For Life Members there is a $50 charge. This discounted fee is in recognition of your years of membership and support. You pay Kim Conn at the door, but please pre-register for the evening.

Non-members there is a $75 fee to cover the dinner and lecture for one visit. We limit this option to a one time visit so that interested doctors can come and experience the SGS dinner lecture event with us, and will hopefully be encouraged to join our SGS family.

A Person-Centered Approach to Contraceptive Counseling: Why and How to Do It

Emerging data indicate that common contraceptive counseling practices, such as using a LARC-first approach, can result in perceived coercion and mistrust of providers by patients. Patients and providers may prioritize different features of contraceptive methods, and marginalized populations in particular may experience perceived pressure to use LARC as a threat to reproductive autonomy.  A patient-centered approach to contraceptive counseling can address these concerns by starting with a discussion of individuals’ reproductive goals and by helping individuals align their preferences and values with their contraceptive decisions.
